A bridge to freedom

My butt is still sore. They actually did throw me onto the frozen sea even knowing that it wouldn’t do anything to me. I guess as Frosttooth said, “the law is the law.”

After my execution (I can’t believe I just wrote that), I was able to gain an audience with the Oathbound ice giant. He stated quite simply, “I am not the White Ghost.” He then explained that he has never even left the north.

I asked him if he dealt with anyone else and he told me that the ice giants currently work for another house. He refused to tell me which.

I think the elves will be the White Ghost,” he told me. I am not sure if he meant Hermes or all of the elves.

His claim to not be the villain was compelling. I had just seen the White Ghost and it was no where near giant sized. But then I remembered hearing stories of ice giants changing their size yet keeping their giant strength. And why did I encounter the White Ghost here? How did he know about the Wumboo cavern?

Am I just growing too suspicious of everyone? The worst thing that could happen to me as a ranger would be for me to become so skeptical or afraid that I stop seeing clearly. I will keep from making conclusions until I know the whole story.

But that’s when I ran into an even bigger problem. How do I escape from the ice giants?

You see, they have laws about that too. As Frosttooth explained, there is only one bridge leading away from here. An ice giant guards that bridge. Anyone leaving is to be killed (for real this time, no choices), and anyone trying to come in is always turned back.

I am trapped but at least Frosttooth seems to like me and has welcomed me to stay in my new home. He has even allowed me to travel where I choose while I am here; just like any other ice giant.

As you may have guessed, I don’t plan on spending the rest of my life here. For the sake of Coalis and your world I need to continue my task. I can’t return to the cavern because there is no way I can climb out. I even checked but the toothless Wumboo is already gone.

So I did what I know best and I investigated.

The bridge is very long and there is no way I could just outrun the guard. The bridge is so slippery that it would take at least 15 minutes for me to get across and the brige is only unguarded for 10 minutes every 3 hours while a new guard comes to replace the previous one.

What am I to do?
