The mystery of the missing cake

Today I got to speak with Mama Mazor. Her coolness and wisdom flowed around her like a gentle breeze. It felt calming

“I know it is your just to suspect everyone so I will tell you for the record that I am not the White Ghost and I will leave the rest to your judgement,” she said. I almost felt bad having to regard her as a suspect.

Mama Mazor told me that the Mazors have never met the ice giants and she appreciated what we did bringing back the cakes. The elves passed through recently according to her, but they did not stay in Nexus for long.

“It saddens me to think that any of us could be the White Ghost but of all of us I am inclined to think that it would be Old Grampa Krall,” she said.

At that point the Mazer’s normally laid back neighbor came running in. The last time I saw him, his short hair had a way of moving gently on his head as if he were underwater. Now it was just giving off a quiet steam from quiet frustration.

He said that they were arguing because one of the cakes went missing. The only one who had access to it were Heath Mazor, his brother Gnoll Mazor and Heath’s best friend. Everyone denies taking the cake but one of them is lying.

“My sons, have always been rivals. Mama Mazor said as I got ready to listen to the upset boy, “but they usually share.”

The neighbor reported the following statements, one of them is telling all lies and the other two are telling only truths.

Gnoll asserted:

  • I did not take the cake.
  • I never eat dessert before a meal.
  • I saw the cake but didn’t touch it.

Heath claimed:

  • I did not take the cake.
  • I admit that I sometimes eat dessert before a meal.
  • Gnoll did not take the cake.

His friend alleged:

  • I did not take the cake.
  • Gnoll lied when he said that he never ate sweets before a meal.
  • I do not know who took the cake.

Can you figure out who is lying about the cake?
