Once the matter with her son was resolved Lady Tagalong became the person that I was expecting to meet except perhaps a little less of a legend and a little more of an actual person — which is a good thing.
I spoke with her about our investigation and about the meeting with the Commander. She told me that her husband really wishes that King Runetracer didn’t work for my husband’s brother.
When I tried to ask more about this she said that “My husband doesn’t speak about his brother so neither should I.”
“I am not the White Ghost,” she told me quietly, though I am not sure why she whispered.
Lady Tagalong was as much a warrior and commander and her husband but she also had the skill of talking to people rather than talking at them. She inspired me to pay attention and to learn from her as I work towards completing this investigation and earning my title.
But there is still a long road ahead of us.
I don’t have the time to wait for the storm to pass so I bundled up for my trip to the Far North and left as early as I could.
When I stopped briefly for breakfast I found a paper that had been slipped into my bags. It was a secret message from Lady Tagalong but it only has a list of dates:
August 6th, May 2nd, August 3rd, March 2nd, July 3rd, November 2nd, June 3rd, August 3rd, September 1st, September 7th, February 7th, October 4th, October 3rd, March 5th, December 7th, January 6th
Can you figure it out?
