Hello, My name is Clarice. You don’t know me but I come from the same world that the trolls you met last year come from; we call our world Coalis. I’m not a troll of course, I am a Ranger. There is a lot more to our world than just trolls. We rangers come from a region called Tarandus; our symbol is the caribou. Rangers in our world are charged with protecting the entire realm. We are a little like your police, and the court for our world is here in Tarandus which is also my home.
Our world, Coalis, is very similar to your history and our two worlds exist parallel to each other. What happens in one world can sometimes influence the other. This is how we noticed the good things you did with those trolls last year.
I personally love the stories and sayings in your world and in one of my favorites there is a man who tells his grandson that there are two wolves inside of all of us. One is full of ego; it is anger and envy, it is regret and lies. It knows only fear, selfishness and it has a misplaced sense of justice. The other is full of kindness, humility, compassion and truth. It knows gratitude, joy, and it cultivates a clear-headed sense of justice. When the boy asks his grandfather which wolf will win, the grandfather tells him, “the one you feed.”
In this world we are all governed by one basic rule; if you do good for one person, then they are more likely to do good for you or for someone else. In this way our deeds spread beyond us as individuals and each one of us can decide what our world will be with the actions we choose to take.
Our good deeds spread but unfortunately so does the opposite. Recently there has been a mysterious new figure in our world called the White Ghost who has been spreading fear, anger and distrust like a wild fire.
White Ghost is feeding the wolf that we don’t want to see win. This will affect all of us here and you as well. The more bad deeds that are done here, the more they leak into your world like dust in a workshop or factory. If enough of this collects then it begins to form dust bunnies. Those things are nothing but trouble and much worse than trolls.
If things gets bad enough here in Coalis then dust bunnies may start to form in your world. I hope to stop the White Ghost before that happens. But who is the White Ghost? We don’t know. I’ve been given the task of finding out who it is and bringing them back to court. I will need to do an investigation but I need help — your help. We have seen what you have done with the trolls and I am asking for you to help me now.
Those of us Rangers who have proven themselves carry the title of Rain such as my friends Rain Thunder and Rain Lightning. I hope to earn my title one day and this might just be the way to do it.
